GARD P&I CLUB
The mutual P&I club Assuranceforeningen Gard - gjensidig (“Gard”) was formed in 1907 in the southern Norwegian town of Arendal, where the head office of Gard Services AS still remains. Whilst originally a P&I club for local shipowners located in Southern Norway, shipowners based in other countries have, since the late 1950's, become the majority membership base for the Club. Gard has prospered and grown considerably, both in the domestic market and internationally, since the 1970's and is now the second largest P&I Club in the industry with a total entered tonnage of more than
120
million GT. The key success factors throughout these years has been the continuous support of a quality Membership, growth in quality tonnage through sound underwriting practices, considerable financial strength, a conservative financial investment policy and proactive services by dedicated and experienced staff.
